History

In 1968, I Ray Sylvester, from "California Rattler Racing" had a 55 Chevy, then a 57 Corvette in C/Altered and a 180" front engine alky dragster. In 1975, I started racing BB/FC through March of 1980. I had to park the car due to sudden illness for several years, unfortunately. In 1984 we started racing the car mostly in match races. In 1994 we started racing with C.I.F.C.A. through 1999, but also with 23T Altered in Goodguys - 1998, 1999, and 2000.

A New Driver

A new driver is born In year 2002 at the beginning I took my 18 year old daughter to the dragstrip to learn as a driver in our old dodge dart. It is only a low 18 second car but to get experience of going down the racetrack for a couple of months. Then came time to try the blower car. We ran it as AA/FA. It was really backed off. First week end we went Friday, Saturday, and Sunday, we made 17 passes, nothing super fast at first no burnouts and just high gear only. Later Saturday started with burnouts & launches. Sunday tried 4 times to go all the way but kept braking loose all the time, but she responded really well.

So next week went to Carroll Shelby and bought 4 new tires.

Then we went back to LACR to try again. We had some important help from Bernie Longjohn and his crew from LACR.

We started to make full passes that weekend and the following weekend and got her ET - 4B license in February 2003.

We are gearing up to run CIFCA in year 2004 and maybe a couple of races with the Goodguys.

Well, 2005 season is over with now and Becky "The Rattler" finished 9th place out of 38 funnycars in her rookie season. In 2005 season we upgraded her license to 3B NHRA.

We had a great 2006 season. We finished 8th in CIFCA points standings, that's one place better than '05.

We started the 2006 CIFCA race season with three sponsors:
Andrus Transportation Services from St. George, Utah
Borrmann Steel Co. from Palo Alto, California
Southside Alignment & Repair from Sacramento, California

At the end of the CIFCA 2006 race season we received a forth sponsor:
Warrior Blowers from Las Vegas, Nevada

If it weren't for our four new sponsors we wouldn't have been racing with the California Independent Funny Car Association this year.

California Rattler II just wants to say thanks to their new sponsors for all the great support!

Well, it's been three seasons that we've finished in the top ten in funny cars, but if it wasn't for our present sponsors we wouldn't have been able to accomplish this. Thanks go to:
